Required Course Preparation
Full Information regarding Short Term Teacher Training with SAA approved summer institutes can be found at http://suzukiassociation.org/teachers/training
Participants must be at least 18 years old, or a be high school graduate or equivalent in order to register the class with SAA. Underage trainees may audit the class, but will have to retake it to register.
ECC is a prerequisite to Book 1 Teacher Training. ECC, Book 1, and Book 2 training must be completed sequentially.
All Teacher Workshop applicants are expected to prepare the book to be studied to a point of fluent performance. Memory is not required, but is strongly recommended. A minimum of 20 hours of listening to the Suzuki recording of the unit to be studied is required. All applicants should have studied Nurtured by Love by Dr. Suzuki.
Teacher Training classes are subject to cancellation at the discretion of our directors if the class does not receive minimum enrollment. Should cancellation be necessary, you will be notified by 5/1/2011 and a full refund will be issued. ISA cannot be responsible for any other expenses (i.e. travel) associated with cancellation.
Audition Requirement
Teachers may register as participants or auditors. To qualify as a participant in training courses rather than auditor, applicants must submit a videotape audition of specified repertoire to the SAA. Tapes must be submitted at least 8 weeks prior to the course start date, with the required fees and a completed application form. Please see see the SAA’s Audition Guide to access the downloadable video audition application form (with instructions); or call the SAA toll free (888) 378-9854 for this form.
SAA strongly urges teachers to enroll as full participants in training courses and to complete the registration process. Since courses are often taken in different locations, the SAA offers centralized record keeping services. Trainees who register can request verification of completed courses by contacting only one source. Auditors are not required to submit a tape, will not perform, may not ask extensive questions and will not receive SAA registration or credit. Fees are the same for both auditors and participants. Participants who wish to register with SAA must take the units in consecutive order. 100% attendance is required.
