ISA Welcomes New President

Greetings everyone! I'm thrilled to be taking over the President's position on the ISA Board for the coming year, and excited to get started building on the incredible success of our 40th Suzuki Institute. I want to take this opportunity to thank Megan Transtrum for the great job she has done over the past few years as President and Susan Kelly for her guidance as Vice President.

The success of this year's Institute could not have occurred without their experience and able hands. And they pulled it off with a calm professionalism that overshadowed all of the hard work they provided to stage such a major event! Thanks so much.

I know many of you from past Institutes (the 40th was my sixth for piano and second for strings), but I want to take this opportunity to officially introduce myself to the Idaho Suzuki Community at large. My 12 year old daughter, Olivia, has been training in Suzuki piano since the age of 4, and she just recently took up the bass, implementing the Suzuki Method with that instrument, as well. My younger daughter, Darci, age nine, started with Suzuki piano at age 4 but switched over to Suzuki violin at six. I'm proud to be a member of the Idaho Suzuki Association and proud to be involved with producing the Idaho Suzuki Institute, the second longest running Suzuki Institute in the United States.

As a Suzuki parent I know first-hand the benefits of great music instruction and I am convinced that the Suzuki Method is the very best musical instruction available. I am passionate about moving the Idaho Suzuki Association into a stronger position as a state leader of this quality music education.

To this end, I'm looking forward to working as Board President for this year. We have some exciting changes coming down the line with some new personalities on the Board and some new ideas percolating to make the 41st Suzuki Institute the very best one yet!

Please join me on this exciting adventure.

Thank you,

Tony DeAngelis
